Friday 8th January 2016 Newsletter
8 January 2016
Welcome to this week’s newsletter…
… and a very ‘Happy New Year!’ to everyone we have not had chance to say it to this week.
The children have been working really hard this week and made a really good start to the new year and the new term; and we look forward to telling you more about their fantastic learning over the coming weeks.
Our children also do lots of interesting things out of school as well; this week Jessica in Year 5 was featured in the Lancashire Telegraph for a rather special reason. Jessica heard about the plight of Theo Power, a five year old neighbour of hers, who is battling an aggressive form of cancer, known as Neuroblastoma, and decided to organise a sponsored walk climbing to Darwen Tower dressed as super-heroes! I know that Jessica is very keen for as many people as possible to either take part or support ‘Heroes for Theo’, so if you would like to support the walk or take part please go to the Facebook page Heroes for Theo, ‘like’ the page and it will take you to links with further information.
Message from the office… parents will be updated weekly (usually on a Monday) about any outstanding money they owe to school for dinners, Breakfast Club, BASC etc. If you have any queries arising from this please contact Mrs Banyard on 01254 55620 ext 207, or call into school to see her.
The Dog Inn are looking to recruit a cleaner for the pub. Current hours would be one hour a day, every morning except Tuesday, but these are likely to increase as the business expands. For further information, or to apply, please call in to the Dog Inn, or contact Shane on 01254 433188 or e-mail: email@example.com
The weather has been unseasonably mild (and wet!) recently, but there is a cold-snap forecast for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with snow predicted over high ground in this area. Obviously, we will do everything possible to stay open but if we do need to close we will inform you as early as is possible. Please keep your phones on as we will text you in the first instance, but keep listening to The Bee, 2BR and Radio Lancashire, and keep checking our website on www.belthornacademy.co.uk for more information.
I hope you have a great weekend.
