Friday 11th December Newsletter

11 December 2015

~~Welcome to this week’s newsletter.

There has been a great atmosphere at school this week with lots of children getting into the festive spirit. The Year 1 and 2 children made us all very proud with their production of Children of the World. On Tuesday night, Year 4 and 6, accompanied by Miss Egan and Miss Shaw, went to Blackburn Cathedral to join in St Wilfrid’s Carol service. This was a fantastic event and feedback from parents has been very positive. Thank you to all parents for supporting your children at these events, especially to those parents who had to be in two places at once on Tuesday.

On Saturday the school choir, led by Mrs Wright will be performing in the Christmas Spectacular at Blackburn Cathedral – this promises to be another wonderful occasion. The children and Mrs Wright have worked very hard to prepare for this event and I look forward to seeing them on the night.

Today has been the annual KS2 ‘Belthorn’s Got Talent’ show. The children have shown incredible talent and KS1 have enjoyed watching and cheering them on.

The children would like to say a massive thank you to the PTFA for organising the Christmas Fair last Saturday. Over £1000 was raised, and most of this will be spent on the pantomime which is visiting school next week.

Next week is another busy week. Here is a brief run-down of events:
Monday PM: Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 party – please send a party plate of food in.
Tuesday am: Bank experience morning. The children will be cashing in their bank points in exchange for an ‘experience’ (baking, craft, singing, football, film)
Tuesday pm: Years 3,4,5 and 6 party – please send a party plate of food in.
Wednesday at 2pm: Carol Concert and nativity performed by Reception.
Thursday: Christmas Dinner
Friday am: Pantomime. (Feel free to send in some sweets/popcorn/drink)

~~And finally…

On Friday it is a non-uniform day and the children are being encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper/t-shirt. We do not expect you to buy anything new especially for this day, just add tinsel etc. to an existing item of clothing. We will be collecting donations for ‘Text Santa’ which supports various children charities.

Have a great weekend.
